“Forget Regret, or life is yours to miss” ― Jonathan Larson, Rent
Spring is a time of new growth and transformation. As the long cold winter melts away, the grass gets greener and flowers begin to bloom.
Much like spring, I believe this course has been an opportunity for me to blossom as a student. Equipped with the various lessons we have been exposed to, I am now more prepared to shine like spring’s vibrant sun.

The purpose of this blog post is to share my learning experiences from MOS 2205, reflecting on that valuable skills that I have acquired. My experience has encompassed both challenges and moments of inspiration through the material that has been shared. I am thankful as I know that I will take these tools into my professional life, ultimately benefitting me going forward.
Communication is Key
I was very excited to take this class. Communication has always been an asset that I have valued especially in my personal relationships. However, I also recognize the importance social awareness as a prospective member of the business world. Therefore, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to practice my skills by participating in such inclusive and informative class discussions.
I have always struggled with the planning stage of the writing process. However, by using the various models we practiced in class, it seems less daunting now. Knowing your audience was also a very valuable topic we covered. We learned that a large component of effective communication is understanding your purpose and engaging the reader using audience benefits. Therefore, in order to ensure conciseness and cohesive writing overall, it is crucial to take a moment to thoroughly plan the process. This can be done by drawing a mind map, free writing or considering WIFM (What’s in it For Me). The PAIBOC model in particular will be something I apply going forward in order to clearly outline my ideas.

Pursuing Persuasion
Persuasion is a topic that I am excited to explore in our presentations and beyond the classroom. I have always been soft spoken; but I recognize the importance of raising my voice. Applying the appropriate persuasive techniques in a group setting will allow me to be more confident in preparing proposals or job applications in the future.

Spring has Sprung
I have really enjoyed our intimate class size. I found it refreshing to learn by listening to the perspectives of my classmates and Melissa. I truly tried my best to put my best foot forward in terms of class participation throughout the semester. I hope to continue to be brave and share my own perspective with others. We all deserve to be heard, so when everyone is supportive and brings their own unique thoughts and ideas to the table, self-growth takes place.

Overall, this course has been very valuable. It’s attention to structure in addition to the creative elements has made it not only informative but also very enjoyable. It has inspired me to reflect on how I communicate, where I need to improve, and the steps I should implement as I approach the working world.
In Conclusion…
The initial quote states, “Forget Regret, or life is yours to miss”.
It is so important as the
seasons change to live without fear. Coming into this class I was hesitant to fully engage and participate, scared of making a mistake. However, with time, I realized that being wrong allows for growth. Taking chances when you are given a platform to raise your voice should not be a missed opportunity. I am grateful to have had this experience and look forward to putting into practice the lessons I have learned.
Through all kinds of weather be mindful, be present, be you, because this is me.

Hey Felicia! After I reading your blog post, I can say I have found a new way to create mind maps. Thanks for the video! I also like how you incorporated the theme of spring throughout your post. I think that was appropriate as spring is about new growth, and this week’s theme being what we have learned so far. Great idea! Eugenia.

Felicia,
After reading your post I’ve come to realize how much more effective my writing can be if I plan before I write. I am someone who writes as fast as my thoughts come out on the page then I go back and edit. Drawing a mind map can make this process a much more seamless transition heading into the writing stage, it allows you to create relevant ideas. As a result, I know that I can be a much more concise writing by planning what I am going to write about.
